Welcome to UN in the occupied Palestinian territory

All UN organizations and agencies working in the occupied Palestinian territory are committed to the goal of ensuring that Palestinians benefit from strong institutions, freedom and the foundations of a future independent state living side by side at peace with Israel.  We work closely with the Palestinian Authority to increase its capability, strengthen the rule of law and foster good governance.  The UN Country Team also cooperates with the many Non-Governmental Organizations, national and international, in fulfilling our shared aims. Dedicated UN personnel often work under difficult and dangerous circumstances, providing both humanitarian and development assistance to Palestinians where it is most needed.

The UNCT website, among other things, provides a profile of the UN agencies in the oPt and sets out what they do.  I trust that shedding light upon the work of the UN system will be useful and lend greater understanding to the vital task of the UN in the oPt.
